The aim of the seminar is to provide the students with a boroad understanding of the main issues of Italy during80s. It was a decade of a general withdrawal from politics and political activism after the upheavals of the 60s and 70s. The ideologies that had held the Cold War system together began to lose their appeal. Suddenly neglected new aspects of individual life find space: fun, body care and the search for personal wealth. In particular the main Italian political events from 1980 to 1990 will be analyzes with the help of cinema and media history.Core Documentation

A final written exam, based on the assigned readings or movies and on what has been discussed in class during the seminar.
