Research Activities:

The American Studies Department promotes and coordinates interdisciplinary studies regarding the cultures of the American Continent without neglecting their European Matrices and the diachronic exchange with Europe. The Department's professors carry out their research activities in the following fields: discovery, conquest and colonisation, national history and literature, multiculturalism, ethnical and post-colonial studies, migrations, history of women, arts and multimediality, philological research, as well as speech practices and difference analysis.
The Department has a large American culture video library, as well as a bibliographical centre regarding material relative to American studies conserved in the libraries of Rome.
