Programme

The course aims to provide students with competence for the design and calculation of conventional structures, with particular reference to concrete buildings with framed structure and the related technical standards. This purpose will be achieved through lectures, both theoretical and applied, that will guide the student in the preparation of the project of a multi-storey building in a seismic zone.
Program:
- foundamentals of structural design
- design of buildings in seismic area: foundamentals
- code requirements (Italy and Europe)
- development of a structural project: the project will involve the design of a residential building for which the structures and related structural drawings will be set. In detail, only some structural elements will be calculated and represented: a column, a beam and a slab

Type of delivery of the course

Classroom course with theoretical lessons and exercises During the course, the theoretical lessons will be followed by regular exercises. The exercises are aimed at developing a project, that is an integral part of the course and the final evaluation. During the exercises the students will discuss the project they are developing. The project will be finally presented at the exam

lessons attendance is mandatory according to the didactic regulations of the department

Type of evaluation

oral evaluation: discussion of the program and presentation of a project The project, developed during the course and discussed during classroom exercises, will be the basis on which the topics of the program will be discussed. Therefore the project will be subject to evaluation together with the preparation of the student on theoretical topics. During the p Covid-19 emergency, the oral exam will be carried out on the platform Teams, on the channel that will be published on the news web site. Students applying the exam must upload, on the one drive file, the project material the day before.
