21002032-1 - ARCHITECTURAL TECHNOLOGY - PART A

The course promotes a culture of technological design towards innovation, with a focus on design strategies and construction techniques for the construction or rehabilitation of buildings with high energy efficiency in temperate climates, also because of the current building and urban regeneration strategies. Through the use of models, the course aims to develop an operational capacity based on criteria and methodologies for performance evaluation of possible technological solutions at different stages of the design process.

Programme

The course aims to provide students with the technical and methodological tools to make informed choices in defining the procedural aspects of the project. The objective is to understand the meaning of a design able to develop coherently with the assumptions of the programming in order to reach realizable results that give rise to adequate solutions and responding to the logic of quality. The contents of the course are oriented to the achievement of a twofold objective: to form the basic knowledge of the operators, rules and tools that regulate the building process and promote the development of a critical ability to manage a complex apparatus of information.

Type of delivery of the course

The Course is made up of lessons and practices.

Attendance

The Course mainly includes lectures on the topics of soft technology, also through conferences and seminars with building sector specialists. The Course includes that students try to apply the concepts learned during the lesson to the project they will develop for the exam.

Type of evaluation

The exam will be done through a planning practice and an individual interview. The exam will be oral upon presentation by the candidates of the requested graphic works. These papers must be delivered 5 working days before the appeal to allow the teacher to examine them. During the oral exam, candidates will have to illustrate the project strategies and will have to answer the teacher's questions.
