The course aims at providing the students with the basic notions of moral philosophy, from a historical and theoretical point of view, with a particular stress on the relationship with cognitive sciences. In particular it will give them the toools to understand one the most common comtemporany discussions, that regarding free will. At the end of the course, the student will be able to master the basic concepts of the conceptual galaxy free will-moral responsibility

Programme

In the first part, the course aims at giving the students the basic concepts of the history of ethics; in the second part, it is focused on the question of free will.
The goal is that the students understand these issues of moral philosophy. At the end of the class, the students will be able to understand and use the fundamental concepts related to these issues.

Type of evaluation

At the end of the course, it will be possible to participate in a written test that, if successful, will exonerate (partially or completely) the students from the oral exam.
