The course ‘Aesthetics’ is part of the program in Philosophical sciences (MA level) and is included among the complementary training activities. The aim of the course is to provide students with an overview of the contemporary debate on the relation between art and authenticity, from both a theoretical and an aesthetic perspective. The course will investigate the principal understandings of the notion of authenticity in contemporary aesthetics, focusing in particular on the notions of historical, genetic, expressive and artistic authenticity. Upon completion of the course, students are expected to:
(1) be acquainted with the main applications of the concept of 'authenticity' in the aesthetic field,
(2) be able to analyse and understand philosophical texts in aesthetics,
(3) clarify and present the different philosophical positions.
