TO INTRODUCE THE BASIC CONCEPTS OF SOIL MECHANICS AND GEOTECHNICAL ENGINEERING IN ORDER TO PROVIDE THE TOOLS TO ANALYZE THE BASIC PROBLEMS OF FOUNDATION STRUCTURES, THE RETAINING STRUCTURES, THE STABILITY OF SLOPES AND EXCAVATIONS. THE COURSE ALSO PROVIDES THE KNOWLEDGE ON MODERN CONSTRUCTION TECHNOLOGY AND THE ESSENTIAL INFORMATION ON NATIONAL AND EUROPEAN CODES AND RECOMMENDATIONS FOR THE DESIGN.
