The objective of the course is to acquire a suitable cultural background to identify, interpret and manage, in a reasoned manner, the basic pediatric problems, with particular reference to the range 0-6.

At the end of the course the student:

- has acquired basic knowledge about knowledge and skills of pediatrics and the psychomotor, psychic, emotional and social development of the child.

1. Introduction to general pediatrics: characteristics and peculiarities
2. Developmental Ages of Pediatrics: psychomotor development, anatomy and physiology, characteristics of the child in early and late childhood, principles of auxology
3. Teething
4. Nutrition in pediatric age: breastfeeding and formula feeding, complementary feeding, self-weaning, the importance of the Mediterranean diet as a healthy lifestyle
5. Childhood obesity
6. Nutrition as an important relationship tool
7. The development of language organic and psychic bases and the delay of language development
8. Respiratory tract infections in pediatric age
9. The main gastrointestinal infectious diseases
10. Children with special needs (autism, down syndrome, diabetes, congenital pathologies, celiac disease, hyperactivity)
11. Monozygotic and dizygotic twins
12. Functional and dysfunctional families, parenting
13. Children with disadvantaged families or family conflicts, bereavement, divorce
