Programme

The course consists of two parts: German grammar and German Regional Studies (Landeskunde).
1. German Grammar and its structure and syntax. Course materials consist of extensive vocabulary-building exercises and texts that address a broad range of cultural topics.
2. The coursebook “Zur Orientierung” covers the political, social and cultural history of Germany from the Nazi “Third Reich” to the present. Among the themes that we explore are the radical transformations of the country after the Berlin Wall.

Type of delivery of the course

Course in form of a seminar with student involvement, held in italian and in German language and dedicated to translation, to the analysis of short texts, to the reading of newspaper articles and current excerpts, related to the historical, cultural and political contexts .

Attendance

Learning is focused on regular class attendance and practice of language exercises. Attendance and active participation are not obligatory but recommended, particularly for the students who have no basic Knowledge of the Language.

Type of evaluation

1. The written exam is reserved for students attending the course. The result of the test is non-binding but only indicative 2. Evaluation in itinere: The seminar includes classroom exercises . 3. The oral exam consists of grammar exercises (Coursebook "Die Gelbe") and a short final interview about the political and historical topics of the course (Coursebook "Zur Orientierung")
