21810560 - SEMINAR - THE ITALIAN OCCUPATION OF THE BALKANS

In the seminar, Italian military occupations in the Balkans will be analyzed in the light of advances in Italian historiography. Some of the monographs of the last twenty years will be compared with the classics of international historiography. Within the new Mediterranean order of Fascism, the military experiences in the Balkans present in fact economic characteristics useful for a comparison with other European realities.
The logics of management of the occupied zones and the impact of military everyday life on civil society will be analyzed thanks to the perusal of archival papers (selected and used during the seminar). Through the study of the military institution, it will be possible to reconstruct the dimension and the history of the repressive apparatus and, in general, to better understand the imperial project of Fascism in the Balkans. The seminar framework is enriched by oral sources that will be analyzed during the seminar lectures.
