The course aims to provide students with the knowledge and useful tools to improve the understanding of the economy of companies, public and private, which, in various roles, participate to the production and delivery of public services. Aware of the complexity and multidisciplinarity of the topics addressed, the course aims to enrich the training of students with the knowledge of the perspective, methods and tools of Business Economics, applied to the dynamics of a sector of enormous social, economic and political importance such as that of public services.

The new regulation of the sector.
The transformation of markets: from monopoly to competition.
The type and form of companies in the sector.
The transformation process of the public enterprise in the sector.
The privatization processes.
The strategy of the public enterprise.
Governance and organization of the public enterprise.
Attention to the user and the community.
Political-institutional guidelines and external controls.
Controls and pricing policies.

Type of delivery of the course

Frontal lessons. In order to make the topics covered in the course verifiable in progress, the functioning of specific types of public enterprises from an economic-business point of view will also be examined, also by means of ad hoc in-depth analyzes.

Students must take an oral test on the topics covered in the course
