2) adverse drug reactions and drug-drug interactions;
3) principles of drug action at the cellular, subcellular and molecular levels;
4) principles of clinical and preclinical pharmacology.

INTRODUCTION: NATURE OF DRUGS, DRUG NOMENCLATURE, DRUG CLASSIFICATION. CLINICAL AND PRECLINICAL PHARMACOLOGY.
PRINCIPLES OF GENERAL PHARMACOLOGY- PHARMACOKINETICS: THE DYNAMICS OF DRUG ABSORPTION, DISTRIBUTION, BIOTRANSFORMATION AND ELIMINATION. MAIN PHARMACOKINETIC PARAMETERS. PHARMACODYNAMICS: MECHANISMS OF DRUG ACTION; DRUG RECEPTORS; DRUG-RECEPTOR INTERACTIONS; SIGNAL TRANSDUCTION MECHANISMS; AGONISTS AND ANTAGONISTS. NEUROTRANSMITTERS.
SYSTEMATIC PHARMACOLOGY- MECHANISM OF ACTION, THERAPEUTIC EFFECTS AND SIDE EFFECTS OF THE MAIN CLASSES OF DRUGS: AUTONOMIC DRUGS; DRUGS THAT ACT IN THE CENTRAL NERVOUS SYSTEM; CARDIOVASCULAR DRUGS; ANTI-INFLAMMATORY DRUGS; BRONCHODILATORS AND OTHER DRUGS USED IN ASTHMA; DRUGS USED IN GASTROINTESTINAL DISORDERS; CANCER CHEMOTHERAPY; ANTIMICROBIC DRUGS.

Type of evaluation

Two intercourse written assessments will be made, consisting of open questions and multiple-choice questions. The evaluation of each test will be in 30/30. Students who will get a score of at least 18 in each test will pass the exam, with a score corresponding to the average score of the two tests . Alternatively, students may also decide to have a single oral exam on the entire program of the course, with an overall evaluation in 30/30.
