TITLE OF THE COURSE: The Bible in the culture of the Middle Ages: the De scripturis et scriptoribus sacris by Ugo di san Vittore.

DESCRIPTION: Although having as its object the reading and analysis of the De scripturis et scriptoribus sacris by Hugh of St. Victor (1096 ca.-1141), the course intends to widen the view on the multiple and complex problems - of a historical, philological, literary and doctrinal nature - concerning the use and interpretation of biblical texts in the development of culture, and in a certain way also of the mentality of the medieval West. – The course involves practical exercises meant to introduce the knowledge and the usage of the main bibliographical and informatic tools for the study and research on Medieval Latin authors.
