Civil Engineering for Natural Hazard Mitigation<\/h2>\nThe Master’s Degree in Civil Engineering for Natural Hazard Mitigation is designed to train professionals capable of managing the structural and environmental risks posed by natural phenomena. The programme addresses critical challenges in civil engineering, such as seismic resilience, flood prevention, and environmental protection. Students can specialise in one of two tracks: Structures, focused on the safety and rehabilitation of buildings and infrastructure, and Hydraulics, which deals with flood control, water resource management, and renewable energy systems.
\nThe course combines theoretical knowledge with hands-on experience in design, modelling, and systems analysis. Students work on real-world problems related to structural mechanics, hydrodynamics, pollutant transport, and soil-structure interaction, developing advanced technical and analytical skills. Project-based learning, laboratory activities, and international collaborations-including Erasmus and professional internships-are core components of the educational approach. Students benefit from strong connections with public and private partners engaged in civil protection, infrastructure, and environmental planning.
\nGraduates are qualified to work in engineering consultancies, construction companies, public authorities, and environmental agencies. They are prepared for roles in risk assessment, infrastructure design, sustainable development, and land and water management. The programme supports further academic progression to PhD level and is open to students with a first-cycle degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering. The degree concludes with an original thesis based on independent research or applied professional work.\n
