Languages and cultural-linguistic mediation
Bachelor’s Degree Programme in Languages and Cultural-Linguistic Mediation (L-12) was established in 2008/2009 to train professional linguistic mediators with strong linguistic, metalinguistic, and philological skills combined with foundational knowledge in historical-literary, economic-legal, and socio-anthropological fields. Students study a range of languages including Arabic, Chinese, French, English, Portuguese (including Brazilian Portuguese), Russian, Spanish, and German through lessons, exercises, and laboratory activities. Internships at national and international institutions affiliated with the university provide practical experience, alongside additional professional training activities.
A key feature of the programme is its international mobility opportunities, facilitated through exchanges with prestigious universities via European programmes such as ERASMUS and extra-European agreements, especially for Arabic, Chinese, and Russian language studies. These exchanges help students gain valuable international experience and engage with diverse academic and research environments. The programme also benefits from visiting professors and faculty exchanges to ensure a dynamic and multicultural educational environment.
Due to high demand and a diverse student body from across Italy and abroad, admission is regulated by a limited enrolment system. Prospective students must pass a language proficiency test at level B1 of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR) to enrol. Upon completion of the three-year course, graduates are well-prepared to continue their studies in a Master’s Degree in Modern Languages for International Communication (LM 38) or pursue a first-level Master’s qualification.
