Since June 2011, Roma Tre University has signed an agreement with Wolfram Research for the use of Mathematica software under a special licensing arrangement, with the aim of providing a multi-license and highly flexible solution to easily manage all the needs of the University.
The contract is valid for three years and is currently in force until 30 November 2026.
Thanks to this contract, Wolfram Research, through Adalta (the Italian distributor of Mathematica software), provides the entire University—faculty, staff and students who request it—with the Wolfram Mathematica software.
The software may be installed on any personal computer owned or leased by the University (including classrooms and laboratories). Faculty members, researchers, administrative-technical staff and students are entitled to install a copy on their home computer, provided it is not used for commercial purposes. Software use is allowed only for employees and/or students of Roma Tre University, specifically those belonging to the departments that have joined the agreement:
– Department of Architecture
– Department of Engineering
– Department of Industrial, Electronic and Mechanical Engineering
– Department of Mathematics and Physics
– Department of Economics
The software is available as single-user or network licenses for Windows, macOS and Linux operating systems.

Service Access
- Faculty and staff members, as well as PhD candidates and research fellows, can download and register the software by accessing the Wolfram Mathematica portal.
To authenticate via Link, use your username including the “personale” domain. For example: personale\mrossi - Students must authenticate using their University credentials—the same used for the Student Portal.
Prepend the domain “studenti” to your username. So, if your username is “mar.rossi”, you must enter:
studenti\mar.rossi
To confirm membership in Roma Tre University—and thus qualify for software usage—only requests specifying an institutional email address will be accepted:@uniroma3.it or @stud.uniroma3.it, depending on your University role.
After completing the form with personal data, the user automatically receives:
- access to the Wolfram User Portal (personal portal);
- the activation key to be entered during Wolfram Mathematica installation;
- the possibility to download their copy of the application.

Access to the Wolfram Portal
If you already have a Wolfram account—your username corresponding to your institutional email@uniroma3.it or @stud.uniroma3.it—you may access the Link identifier #identifier__166165-3Wolfram User Portal directly (new link as of June 2025).
From the portal you can view your activation keys and download the installation software.
Note on the Trial Version
The Wolfram platform allows standard users to download and install a full 15-day Trial version.
If you had to install such a version, you can later update it to a full license by selecting the application’s dedicated menu (usually “Enter Activation Key”) and entering the activation key obtained from the link above.
In this way, the trial version automatically becomes a complete and permanent version.
