Once you have chosen your studies and went through the Enrolment process, make sure to have things ready for your new study experience in Italy. To help you do so, we have decided to create this section where we share some tips on what might be useful for your stay in Rome and your experience with Roma Tre University.
Before the arrival
Exchange student within bilateral agreement
You must ensure that your University communicated officially your nomination by e-mail to our International Mobility Office (Link identifier #identifier__36674-1mobilita.internazionale@uniroma3.it).
Thereafter you must register on the Link identifier #identifier__144787-2Student Portal and select the following items:
- foreign student without tax code
- incoming student within an international mobility programme
Deadlines for submitting the application form:
- for arrivals in the first semester: from 1st March
- for arrivals in the second semester: from 1 September to 30 October
Admission to Roma Tre is confirmed only upon receipt of the student’s nomination sent by the home institution.
Erasmus Student
Make sure that your university communicated your nomination by e-mail to our International Mobility Office (Link identifier #identifier__78912-3incoming.students@uniroma3.it)
Fill in the Link identifier #identifier__186327-4Application Form that must be printed and signed both by the student and by the sending institution. Make sure you upload it through the temporary link that you will receive by e-mail after submitting the application. Your acceptance will be confirmed by e-mail.
Deadlines for the application form are the following:
- from 30th March to 15th June for students arriving in the first semester or for the entire academic year
- from 30th September to 1st November for students arriving in the second semester
Accommodation
Finding housing in Rome can be hard and expensive. Visa (non-EU citizens)
If you are a non-EU citizen, you must apply for a student visa at the competent Italian Consulate in your country of residence.

Residence permit (non-EU citizens)
Within 8 (eight) working days from your arrival in Italy on a type D “national” visa for study (university enrolment), you must contact the local Police Department – Immigration Office desk (Questura – Ufficio stranieri) to book an appointment to apply for a permit of stay (Permesso di soggiorno per motivi di studio e formazione).
The request can be presented to Post Offices and then you will be requested to go to the Police Department. If you arrive on a short-term visa (Uniform Schengen Visa – USV) you have to follow the so-called Procedures for presentation of “Declaration of Presence” by foreigners for short-term stays.

Tax code (Fiscal Code)
The codice fiscale (tax code) is a personal tax identification number used in all dealings with public authorities and other administrations, it is essential for opening a bank account, accessing healthcare or getting paid for internships or jobs.
To get a Codice Fiscale (Tax Code) you can either:
- request it at the Italian Embassy or Consulate in your home country
- apply at the Agenzia delle Entrate (Italian Revenue Agency) by going in person to any local office and bringing with you a valid passport (or EU identity card), Visa or residence permit if you are a non-EU student, a completed application form (Link identifier #identifier__113700-8Agenzia delle Entrate – Modello AA4/8) and a proof of university enrolment (optional)
- submit a pre-enrolment application on theLink identifier #identifier__101715-9 Universitaly portal, the system will automatically generate a tax code that will be definitive after pre-enrolment.
Extra Insurance
You must have complete insurance coverage during your stay in Rome – the insurance plan must cover you both during university hours and your free time.
The healthcare services you can access during your stay in Rome depend on the documents you possess:
- if you are a Link identifier #identifier__44959-10foreigner without documents you are entitled to receive only emergency and continuative care;
- if instead Link identifier #identifier__196232-11you have a residence permit or have applied for one, you are entitled to all the healthcare services provided by the National Healthcare System.

Arriving on time
Make sure you plan your trip beforehand and arrive to Rome on time – leave yourself some time to find the accommodation, meet your peers and explore the area you will live and study in. Once you are all set, you can start your course in RomaTre!
Rome’s major airport is named after Leonardo Da Vinci (Fiumicino) while the other one is called Ciampino. Both are well connected to the city and have shuttle transport taking you to the main stations such as Roma Termini or Roma Tiburtina.

Activating Student Account (GOMP)
Roma Tre offers the opportunity to perform online administrative procedures, from enrolment to graduation, avoiding unnecessary moving to the Registrar’s office on Link identifier #identifier__141626-13GOMP Platform.
It is possible to access your reserved area with SPID credentials. For further information have a look at the following page: Link identifier #identifier__59476-14Sign up for your student personal account
However, for Link identifier #identifier__5215-15registration procedure, it is not necessary to have SPID credentials, follow the steps on the link abovementioned to have access credentials (Roma3Pass).
Apply for Disability Study Support
If you have Specific Learning Disorder (SLD) or a long-term disability that affects your studies, Roma Tre is ready to provide you with the necessary support for your professional growth. Our goal is to provide an opportunity to study for all students interested – you can count on us!

The Arrival Day
What to do upon arriving at Roma Tre for Exchange students within bilateral agreements and Erasmus+ students
To be enrolled it is necessary to send a ticket through Link identifier #identifier__115736-18helpdesk uploading a copy of the following compulsory documents (please in only one attachment):
- proof of your arrival in Rome (flight ticket and boarding pass, train ticket, bus ticket, etc);
- copy of Identity card/passport.
International incoming students will receive a certificate attesting their enrolment at Roma Tre. Thereafter they will receive an e-mail with a User Id and a password to access their Link identifier #identifier__75123-19Reserved Area.
Through the Student Portal students will be able to check constantly their academic career, enroll for exams and print certificates such as the Transcript of Records.
Grants and Scholarships

Course Registration (GOMP)
After arriving to Rome and settling in, make sure you register, log into our platform GOMP and sign up for the right courses. In this way the professors will find you on the system easier and we will be able to follow and assign the right amount of credits at the end of your course.
During your course, most of the study material will be found on the following platforms: Moodle, Teams, Gomp. You will receive more in formation once you start your course with Roma Tre.
European Student Card
Once you have access to your personal area on GOMP platform, you may apply for the ESC – European Student Card.
You will need to follow few simple steps on our GOMP platform:
- before applying for the ESC, make sure you have uploaded your personal photo on your GOMP profile
- from the main menu select Mobility Programmes – European Student Card
- select European Student Card and fill out the application
- if needed, you may send a request for assistance by clicking on the vertical side menu Settings – European Student Card
Before you Leave
Transcript of Records
If you finished your ERASMUS+ experience with us, at the end of the study period at Roma Tre, the Office will issue Transcript of Records certifying the study period carried out. You can download the transcript of records from your personal online area on GOMP platform.

AlmaLaurea
AlmaLaurea is an interuniversity consortium dedicated to graduates, companies, institutions and universities: it gives you the possibility to freely submit their curriculum vitae and work preferences; thanks to this, companies can look for the right person for their needs and universities are able to understand the real employment feedback of the training they offer.
Roma Tre is part of this consortium which encourages its graduates to take advantage of the initiative. Graduates applying for a degree will be given the opportunity to access the Link identifier #identifier__13676-22AlmaLaurea; once the preliminary questionnaire has been filled in, graduates are able to enter their curriculum vitae and keep it updated over time.
AlmaLaurea also offers an upgrade service on advanced and specific training initiatives which might be interesting for graduates. Partner universities can have access to this service as well as to information and statistical research on supply/demand trends in order to better monitor the impact of the university careers they offer on the job market.
