Early Childhood Education and Care
Bachelor’s Degree in Early Childhood Education and Care blends theoretical knowledge with practical training to equip students with the skills to care for and educate children aged 0–6 years. Coursework covers pedagogy, psychology, sociology, child development, motor skills, hygiene and overall wellbeing. Practical components include workshops, laboratories and supervised placements in nurseries and early childhood services, ensuring that educational planning, parent engagement and inclusive practice are integral to learning.
Admission is open-access, requiring a recognised secondary school diploma or equivalent. Students take a non-selective entry test at the start of the academic year, assessing foundational understanding in pedagogy, psychology, logical reasoning and communication skills, which helps identify any need for additional tutoring or support. Throughout the course, guided study and tutoring are provided to support academic progress and ensure readiness for the professional role of early childhood educator.
Though international mobility is not prominently featured for this specific programme, the department does facilitate Erasmus+ and other exchange opportunities for its students—primarily in related education and social services programmes. Graduates emerge ready to work in early childhood settings, childcare centres, community-based services and family support roles, with the knowledge to foster children’s cognitive, emotional, social and physical development in diverse and inclusive environments.
