Mechanical Engineering
Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering classified under the Industrial Engineering category (L-9), offers a comprehensive education combining fundamental industrial and mechanical engineering principles with a special focus on marine applications. This aligns with the EU’s Blue Growth strategy promoting sustainable development in marine and coastal environments. Admission is open without a fixed quota, but applicants must pass a mandatory entrance test assessing basic knowledge in mathematics, physics, chemistry, and geometry at a secondary school level. Any gaps identified must be addressed through supplementary learning after enrolment.
The programme offers two specialisations: “Mechanical Engineering” and “Marine Technologies.” It is structured over three years: the first year covers foundational scientific subjects; the second year deepens this knowledge and introduces topics related to the chosen specialisation; the third year focuses on advanced, professional-oriented courses along with electives. Students must achieve a B2 level proficiency in English and can select optional activities such as internships, language courses, and practical laboratory training. The course concludes with a final project, involving the preparation and defence of a technical report under academic supervision. International mobility is encouraged through study abroad programmes like ERASMUS and external internships, although no compulsory internship is required.
Graduates are qualified to register with the Professional Engineers’ Association (Junior Section) in Industrial Engineering and are prepared for careers in design, project management, testing, operation, and maintenance of machinery and industrial plants. They can work in private consultancy, industry, public administration, or research institutions. The course also provides a strong foundation for pursuing Master’s degrees in Mechanical Engineering or related industrial and marine engineering fields.
