Classical Studies

The Master’s Degree in Classical Studies (LM-15) at Roma Tre University offers advanced training in Greek and Latin literature, classical philology, and ancient history. Building on undergraduate knowledge, the programme provides a standard curriculum and the opportunity to take part in the European Master in Classical Cultures (EMCC), a joint degree pathway delivered in cooperation with Westfälische Wilhelms-Universität Münster, Albert-Ludwigs-Universität Freiburg i.Br., Universität Hamburg (Germany), Université Jean Jaurès Toulouse (France), and Uniwersytet im. Adama Mickiewicza w Poznaniu (Poland).

The study plan is flexible and interdisciplinary, with core modules in Greek and Latin language and literature, ancient history, and related methodologies. Additional credits are earned through seminars, laboratory work, and internships. A significant portion of the final year is devoted to individual research, culminating in a thesis worth 30 ECTS, which may be co-supervised and defended as part of the EMCC pathway.

Graduates are qualified for careers in education, archives, publishing, cultural heritage, libraries, and research. They are also eligible to apply for doctoral programmes and teacher training pathways in Classical Studies, Ancient History, or related fields. The degree cultivates advanced philological and analytical skills applicable in both academic and professional contexts.
