Cognitive Sciences of Communication and Action

The Master’s Degree in Cognitive Sciences of Communication and Action offers a cross-disciplinary exploration of how cognitive processes shape communication, learning, and interaction. Drawing on fields such as philosophy, linguistics, psychology, neuroscience, artificial intelligence, and anthropology, the programme investigates cognition as both a biological and computational phenomenon. Students develop a critical understanding of the development of cognitive science as a research field while acquiring methodological tools for designing and conducting empirical studies in communication and cognition.

The curriculum integrates historical and conceptual study with hands-on training in research design, data analysis, and interpretation. It prepares students to examine complex communicative processes—whether human or machine-based—through a cognitive lens. With its interdisciplinary scope, the course supports academic pathways across a range of disciplines and fosters autonomous learning and research planning. Students may tailor their education through optional modules and develop specialisations aligned with their academic or professional goals.

Graduates are equipped for roles in communication, public engagement, media consultancy, behavioural research, and academic publishing, as well as further study at doctoral level. Career opportunities extend across public institutions, research centres, NGOs, and private enterprises operating in areas such as journalism, education, and digital communication. The degree culminates in a research-based thesis that demonstrates both methodological rigour and interdisciplinary insight.
