Mechanical Engineering

The Master’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering at Roma Tre University provides students with comprehensive training in mechanical and industrial systems design, combining a solid theoretical foundation with specialised skills across key technological sectors. The programme prepares graduates for complex engineering tasks in machine design, energy systems, automation, vehicle propulsion, production processes, and materials technology. With three main curricula and five specialisation tracks, students can tailor their academic path to match their interests and professional aspirations.

The first year of study focuses on core subjects such as machine design, thermal and mechanical measurement, fluid machinery, and industrial plants. In the second year, students pursue advanced modules aligned with their chosen curriculum: Mechanical Design and Vehicle Engineering, Energy and Sustainability, or Industrial Management and Smart Manufacturing. The programme incorporates practical training, elective activities, and opportunities for internships or study abroad through Erasmus. The final thesis is based on an independent project conducted under faculty supervision and may involve academic research or industrial collaboration.

Graduates are qualified to work in design, manufacturing, automation, energy, and transport sectors. They may take on technical or managerial roles in private companies, public organisations, or research centres, and are also eligible for registration with the Italian professional board of engineers (Industrial Sector – Section A) upon passing the state examination. The degree also provides access to doctoral and second-level master's programmes. Graduates are expected to demonstrate strong analytical, decision-making, and communication skills, enabling them to adapt to rapidly evolving technological environments.
