Mechanical Engineering for Marine Resources

Mechanical Engineering for Marine Resources

The Master’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering for Marine Resources at Roma Tre University offers targeted training for engineers specialising in sustainable design, construction, and management of marine and industrial systems. While rooted in the broader Mechanical Engineering programme, this track focuses on applications in marine technologies, offshore engineering, propulsion systems, and resource-efficient production. The course is designed to develop high-level competencies for addressing the technical and environmental challenges of marine and industrial engineering.

In the first year, students complete a shared core of modules in design, fluid dynamics, industrial plant engineering, and energy systems. In the second year, they specialise in fields aligned with their interests, including energy and sustainability, vehicle propulsion, or smart manufacturing. The curriculum includes laboratory activities, workshops, elective courses, and internships, encouraging active learning and engagement with real-world problems. Students may also participate in international mobility or undertake thesis projects in partnership with external institutions.

Graduates are equipped to work in industries related to marine transport, offshore infrastructure, energy systems, and mechanical production. They may be employed in design offices, manufacturing firms, research centres, and public agencies, or pursue careers as independent professionals. The degree qualifies graduates for the Italian professional register of engineers (Industrial Sector – Section A) and supports access to doctoral studies. The final thesis represents the culmination of the training process and must demonstrate the ability to integrate knowledge and apply it in an original and professional context
