The Master’s Degree in Physics at Roma Tre University offers an advanced scientific education grounded in both theoretical and experimental approaches. The programme prepares students for high-level research and professional careers in physics, with the option to specialise in one of seven distinct fields: Astrophysics and Cosmology; Experimental Physics of Matter; Experimental Particle Physics; Theoretical Physics of Fundamental Interactions; Theoretical and Computational Physics of Matter; Earth, Climate and Planetary Physics; and Science Communication and Education. Courses are taught by leading experts, with extensive connections to research institutions such as INFN, INAF, INGV, CNR, ASI, CERN, and ESO.

The curriculum begins with a shared foundation in core topics including quantum mechanics, statistical physics, particle physics, and mathematical methods. Students then follow a specialised track with advanced coursework, laboratory training, and exposure to current scientific challenges. Research-based learning is central to the programme, with opportunities for thesis projects developed in collaboration with research institutes, universities, or industry partners in Italy or abroad. The degree encourages critical thinking and independent inquiry in both experimental and theoretical contexts.

Graduates are qualified for doctoral programmes or can pursue careers in scientific research, data analysis, medical physics, environmental sciences, advanced technology sectors, and science communication. They may also enter secondary education subject to national teacher training pathways. The course supports international collaboration and requires a minimum B2 level of English proficiency. The final assessment is based on the defence of a research thesis, representing the culmination of a rigorous and research-oriented academic journey.
