Students with SLD or disabilities or certified permanent injury are entitled to specific technical and educational accommodations.
Mandatory Requirements
Please note that to request accommodation, it is necessary to:
- upload the certification to your personal student account;
- register at the Office for Students with Disabilities and SLD. Registration must be renewed at the beginning of each academic year (October).

Additional Time for Language Exams
What it is:
Students with SLD are entitled to 30% additional time for written exams; students with disabilities are entitled to 50% additional time.
How to request it:
If the mandatory requirements have been met, no additional communication to the CLA is needed and the student will be granted extra time to complete the exam.
Reader and Scribe support
What it is:
A tutor responsible solely for reading exam questions to the student and/or writing down answers dictated by the student. The role is to compensate for reading or writing difficulties, ensuring access to the exam and accurate transcription of answers.
What it is not:
The tutor is not a prompter, proofreader or cognitive facilitator. His/her assistance is purely technical and must not alter the exam content or the intellectual effort required.
How to request it:
To request reader and scribe support, send a request at least 20 days before the exam to:
ufficio.disabilita.dsa@uniroma3.it, specifying the type of exam and exam date (e.g. “English language test on 20/01/2027”).
The service will be granted depending on staff availability.
Equivalent Exams
What they are:
Depending on the type of disability, students may take equivalent exams. For example, a written-only exam may be arranged for deaf students, or a fully oral exam for students visually impaired.
An oral exam may also be requested by students with SLD instead of a written one; however, it is recommended to try the standard format first (computer-based multiple-choice), since spoken interaction is generally more complex than the receptive skills assessed in the computer-based exam.
Students may also request to split the exam into two partial tests.
How to request it:
Send an email to the academic coordinator gabriele.ridarelli@uniroma3.it
and cc didattica.cla@uniroma3.it at least 20 days before the exam session.
Note
Students with disabilities, like all students, must meet the learning objectives of their degree program.
For example, if achieving level B2 in English is required, students must demonstrate the expected level in certain skills; simplified programs or exams are therefore not possible.
As this is a structured exam, mind maps are not permitted (see Vademecum disabilità e DSA – Italian version).
Since knowledge of vocabulary and grammar rules is an integral part of the exam, the use of dictionaries, charts or other reference tables is not allowed.
Exam Preparation
To prepare for the exam, it is strongly recommended to attend a course offered by the CLA.
Dedicated courses with alternative methods are also available to address specific learning needs.
