International Studies

The Master’s Degree in International Studies at Roma Tre University is a two-year programme taught entirely in English. It provides advanced academic and professional training in the political, legal, historical and economic dimensions of the international system, with a specific focus on globalisation, human rights, international development, peacekeeping, and contemporary geopolitical challenges. The course is particularly suited to students aiming to pursue careers in diplomacy, international organisations, and global governance. It offers the possibility of studying strategic languages such as Arabic, Russian, and Chinese, and benefits from extensive international academic partnerships and teaching staff with decades of experience in the field.

The curriculum is designed to develop broad interdisciplinary knowledge and high-level analytical, methodological and linguistic skills. Core areas include international politics, international law, development economics, contemporary history, human rights theory and intercultural relations. Students are trained to interpret and evaluate global political and economic dynamics, design international cooperation programmes, and apply critical thinking in decision-making and policy evaluation. The programme emphasises interactive teaching methods, workshops, seminars, and internships, and requires the final dissertation to be written and defended in English. Students also acquire competence in a second international language beyond English, such as Spanish, French, Arabic or Chinese.

Graduates are prepared for careers in international public administration, diplomacy, NGOs, global corporations, think tanks, and institutions concerned with development, peacebuilding and human rights. Roles include political analysts, international policy officers, strategic advisors, and programme managers. The degree also offers access to doctoral programmes and advanced training in international studies and global governance. Admission is subject to academic requirements, including a strong undergraduate background in relevant disciplines, a B2 English language certificate obtained within the last three years, and sufficient academic credits in history, political science, law, economics, and international relations.
