The blue economy represents a significant opportunity for industrial growth, job creation, international scientific visibility and political and economic leadership for our country.
On the scientific front BIG is represented by a large group of universities and all public research entities engaged in marine-related topics, while the industrial front includes the direct involvement of many leading national and international players with a significant presence of SMEs and territorial aggregations that also play an essential role in connecting with the regions.
The CTN BIG is structured to align fully with the main development trajectories on the subject—defined globally, at the European level and within the Mediterranean basin—addressing major social challenges in a sustainable manner, in line with the macroeconomic trends characteristic of the sector and respecting the criterion of restoring and maintaining the Good Environmental Status. The identified development trajectories are: (i) Marine environment and coastal zones, (ii) Blue biotechnology, (iii) Renewable marine energy, (iv) Marine abiotic resources, (v) Marine biotic resources, (vi) shipbuilding and marine robotics. The National Technological Cluster (CTN) Energy is a non-profit association aiming to create a national platform for all stakeholders interested in energy-related topics. Its goal is to create a unified reality of national importance, which will represent the sector at European and international levels as well as a point of contact with institutional bodies, businesses and regional and national administrations.
CTN Energia, whose technological domain encompasses energy processes from source to use, promotes actions to support research, development, and technology transfer in the Energy specialization area. TICHE Foundation

The National Technological Cluster for Cultural Heritage TICHE aims to establish and implement a territorial innovation system of national importance by connecting networks, interregional integration and managing the competencies and resources of public and private R&D and production structures. It focuses on managing technologies and innovation, valorizing research, technology transfer, business incubation, investment attraction, and dedicated finance.
The TICHE Foundation is the coordinating and managing body of this cluster, aiming to remove obstacles that slow down innovation in Italy’s industrial system in sectors related to the management and valorization of cultural heritage. Challenges include the difficulty in linking demand (businesses) and supply (public research system), the inability to formalize innovation needs and the difficulty, particularly for SMEs, in accessing European and national support measures.

The Cluster brings together the leading national industrial and scientific players operating in road, rail, water transport and intermodal mobility, as well as in telematics applied to transport and integrated transport services. The objective of the DTC Lazio Centre of Excellence is to implement strategic actions in the fields of education, research and technology transfer, all tightly integrated, to strengthen, relaunch and internationalize the entrepreneurial system of Lazio operating in the cultural heritage technologies sector. This is achieved by leveraging regional resources, competencies and the know-how of its partners.
The Centre of Excellence, also seen as a technological research infrastructure and service centre for the region, serves as a reference point for public entities (e.g., state and municipal superintendencies), private entities (e.g., foundations, associations, or collectors) and especially businesses (both craft and industrial) in the cultural heritage sector. This objective is made possible by the high qualifications and multidisciplinary nature of the wide range of high-tech laboratories and research groups associated with the Centre.

Cyber 4.0 is the National Competence Centre for cybersecurity, one of the eight national high-specialization competence centres funded by the Ministry of Economic Development (MISE).
The mission of the Centre is to support policymakers, businesses, and public administrations in a growth path towards secure digitalization, offering concrete, strategic, and sustainable solutions based on knowledge, innovative technologies and enabling services developed through the expertise of its network. This helps showcase the country’s excellence in the European and international context.
Guided by the principles of the Industry 4.0 Plan, the Centre aims to enhance the competitiveness of the national system by providing businesses and public administration with orientation and training services, as well as funding research and innovation projects in the core areas of cybersecurity. These projects are cross-sectoral, touching industries such as e-Health, Automotive, and Aerospace. For the performance of its institutional activities, the Centre can rely on the collaboration of 100 experts network selected on a national basis among their membership.
