Roma Tre University took part with an academic delegation in the World Food Forum 2025, held at FAO headquarters in Rome from 10 to 17 October 2025.
The World Food Forum 2025 represented an opportunity for international dialogue on issues of great importance for the future of agri-food systems, organized in conjunction with the 80th anniversary of FAO.
The week included three main forums (the Global Youth Forum, the Science and Innovation Forum, Hand in Hand Investment Forum), the Youth Assembly, World Food Day and various high-level side events featuring heads of state, ministers and senior international officials as speakers.
The university delegation from Roma Tre was composed of 21 students from various Departments: Languages, Foreign Literatures and Cultures; Sciences; Architecture; Mathematics and Physics; Economics; Philosophy; Communication and Performing Arts; Humanities. Participation was coordinated by Prof. Pasquale De Muro and Mr. Giovanni Baccolo.
The initiative was designed as a structured training program. Before the event, students met with the coordinators to receive scientific and thematic background. After the Forum, the delegation met again to share, critically discuss and reprocess the knowledge acquired, thus maximizing the educational potential of the initiative.
The focus was on sustainable food systems and food security, fully aligned with Goals 2 and 3 of the UN 2030 Agenda. However, topics related to Goals 12, 15, and 17 were also addressed.
The interdisciplinary nature of the delegation was a key element of this initiative: students interested in different scientific and socioeconomic aspects approached the Forum from multiple perspectives. The final exchange, organized at the end of the event, fostered the development of an integrated understanding of the relationships between food, environment, climate, economic development, culture and communication. This enabled participants to develop cross-cutting skills and to better understand the complex interconnections among the pillars of the UN 2030 Agenda and of environmental sustainability.
