The learnign objective of the course is the acquisition of the knowledge of the optical devices used for the correction of vision defects . Students will develop skills to interpret a prescription, choose and make an optical device, verify the actual functionality and compliance with European and international standards.

A Brief History of the glasses. Ophthalmic frames. Shapes and materials. Naming of parts. Specifications. Basic concepts of geometrical optics of the lenses. Materials, shapes and geometries of ophthalmic lenses. Notes on the aberrations of ophthalmic lenses. Spherical lenses assosimmetriche.
