History and Values

Roma Tre University is a young university for young people. Established in 1992, it has rapidly grown in terms of both student population and range of study programs offered.
It stands highly in international rankings, especially among the youngest universities.

A dynamic, modern and international university, Roma Tre has been immediately identified as the vital lever of urban development in the capital, where it is now well established, contributing in changing the city’s landscape through a constant process of restructuring and re-using abandoned industrial buildings, converting them into hubs of knowledge and research. 

Roma Tre’s core values include promoting and organizing research at  international level, providing advanced education, developing and disseminating knowledge, safeguarding the environment, fostering international solidarity, upholding gender equality and recognizing and encouraging merit. 

Teaching and research, in all disciplinary areas, constantly interact and address a global audience, thus fostering knowledge advancement and enrichment. These activities are integrated with the university’s third mission, considered both as technological transfer and as outreach of educational activities into the local territory. 

The international dimension is considered a strategic aspect of the University, which adheres to the principles of the Magna Charta Universitatum. It declares its commitment to the European Higher Education and Research Area, embracing its principles and tools.
