Objectives: The course examines topics relating to the foundation-transformation of the city in history, with special regard to the period between the seventeenth and eighteenth century. Acquired concepts are applied through the development of papers intended to extend some specific topics: whole cities or parts of them (main streets and squares) particularly significant; of them will put in evidence the first setting up and the subsequent changes, from the origins to the present stage.

THE COURSE IS INTENDED TO PROVIDE FURTHER TO THE KNOWLEDGE OF HISTORY OF CONTEMPORARY CITY, THROUGH SOME 'SECTIONS' IDENTIFIED IN THE PERIOD FROM HALF 'OF THE XVIII CENTURY AND ONE HALF' OF THE TWENTIETH CENTURY. The course is based in particular on the notes taken in the classroom. We recommend books, essays and any other educational material that from time to time will be deemed necessary to follow the course. Type of delivery of the course

The course includes lectures on all the topics covered by the program with projection of images for the best understanding of the topics. There are at least two guided tours on Roman subjects treated in class, usually located towards the end of the course.

Type of evaluation

The course includes an oral exam with multiple questions on the topics covered during the lessons.
