21002097-2 - ESTIMO

The module of quantity survey provides the economic and financial evaluation for a possible feasibility and cost effectiveness. Through case studies, students will be able to check the total cost of similar interventions, moving in the direction of improving the quality of existing space.

Programme

The module has the objective of integrating the fundamental issues of valuation, exploring specific aspects of estimation tools and methods.
The economic evaluation is part of the design process and its creative phase, providing support for progressive choices and playing an active role in the construction of the project. The evaluation therefore plays a role in identifying the preferable solution with respect to the project, the context, the subjects involved in the process, and foreshadowed feasibility requirements. The module, after having reviewed the fundamental methodological aspects of the estimation discipline, deepens the methods, techniques and tools for analytical cost estimation, with particular reference to the restoration project. Finally, the methods and techniques for evaluating projects are provided according to different approaches: financial, economic and multidimensional.
Specifically, the module is divided into:
A brief summary of appraisal basics: appraisals principles and methods. Direct and indirect estimation methods. Total Economic Value, definitions and techniques.
Deepening of the specific topics of the evaluation of restoration costs: approach to analytic cost estimation, specific price lists for restoration, investigation techniques and analysis of new prices for restoration works, cost estimation applications to complex restoration projects.
Methods and techniques of projects evaluation: financial and economic analysis, multidimensional methods, Multicriteria Analysis (among which Electre methods, Dominant Regime Methods, Analytic Hierarchy Process, etc.).

Type of delivery of the course

The module alternates theoretical contributions, aimed at illustrating the principles of estimation, with operational applications carried out in the classroom, aimed at learning the practical aspects of estimative procedures. Furthermore, there will be frontal communications relating to the methods of carrying out the examination papers. During the phase of developing the final examination paper, specific revision are planned.

Attendance

Attendance is mandatory for at least 75% of classrooms.

Type of evaluation

During the course, the students will carry out a work complementary to the restoration project, in which the analytical evaluation of the restoration costs is addressed. The learning assessment takes place within the revisions necessary for the preparation of the paper and for checking the state of progress. Finally, a quality judgment is formulated relative to the final paper; this judgment will contribute to the formation of the final vote of the Laboratory. The exams will be on digital platform , so please send a copy of the digital work to email address fabrizio.amadei@uniroma3.it one week before ogf the exam.
