The objectives of the course concern the legislation of cinema and audiovisual sector, in Italy and in Europe, with particular reference to the protection of content, copyright and related rights.

Programme

• Introduction: the screen sector, the film/audiovisual production industry, the players
• The new Cinema Law: main aspects
• The nationality of a film/audiovisual content, the screen contents unable to access the benefits of the Law; the parameters to define a film
• The Audiovisual Media Services Directive and the obligation of programming and investment in European production
• The support to audiovisual content production/distribution: the tax relief, the selective schemes, the automatic schemes
• The support to audiovisual content promotion


Core Documentation

The subject is rather new, therfore there is no text book. The professor will provide the studying papers and reports for the students in class.

Type of delivery of the course

Apart from traditional lectures, the professor also organizes some lectures with professionals from the audiovisual sector and exercising lessons.

Attendance

Attendance is compulsory. In order to be allowed to take the exam, the student must attend 7/10 lessons.

Type of evaluation

The examination will aim at verifying the student full understanding of the screen sector and of the Cinema Law in the first place. Moreover, it will focus on the understanding of the benefits and support for all the stages of the supply chain.
