20801746 - ACOUSTICS AND AMBIENT LIGHTING TECHNIQUE

The educational objectives consist in acquiring the physical and psycho-physical basic concepts underlying sound and light perception mechanisms, in the knowledge of acoustical and photometric quantities used in the two areas, of the measuring instruments, of the sound propagation in enclosures and open spaces, of the main types of artificial light sources and of daylighting, of sound-absorbing materials and sound insulation. This represents the basis for the design of the acoustical and luminous environment, both by using simplified calculation methods, and by resorting to the use of dedicated software.

Type of delivery of the course

Lectures and exercises.

Type of evaluation

Standard procedure: The final exam consists of a written test, based on the solution of exercises, and of an oral test. Two partial written tests, one of them about acoustics and the other one about lighting design subjects, are planned. A positive outcome in both of these tests allows to directly access the oral test. During COVID-19 emergency, the exam will follow the indications of art.1 of the Rectoral Decree No. 703 of 5 may 2020. In this case the exam will consist in an oral test, during which the ability to solve written problems can be verified.
