Type of delivery of the course

The course includes theoretical lessons dedicated to the analysis of the fundamental aspects related to the different topics covered by the teaching program. Furthermore, practical exercises of numerical calculation and / or numerical simulation are carried out in relation to specific problems such as, for example, the determination of voltage drops in d.c. traction systems with either single or bilateral power supply or the first-tentative sizing of the propulsion drive of an electric vehicle in relation to the desired driving performance.

Attendance

Attendance is not mandatory but strongly recommended to fully benefit from the wide range of technical information made available through theoretical lessons and practical exercises.

Type of evaluation

Interview lasting about 30 minutes and typically articulated in the technical discussion of at least two of the topics covered in the course. As part of the interview, it is required to illustrate the circuit configurations and / or the operating characteristics of electric drives, with either d.c. or three-phase a.c. machine, also discussing both the dynamic models and regulation techniques used for controlling torque and/or speed and position. The test is passed if a grade of between eighteen and thirty is achieved. The vote is assigned by the examining committee taking into account both the degree of knowledge of the topics covered, and the ability to expose the various aspects concerning the specific topics covered by the interview in a logical and exhaustive manner.
