The aim of the course is to develop a general framework concerning the law sources, the organisation of public powers, State organs, European Union, Regions and local government. The rules concerning the protection of human rights and foundamental liberties guaranteed by the Constitution will be analized during the course. The final purpose of the course is to examine the functioning of constitutional justice

Constitutional principles concerning the public administration. Other organs. The territorial autonomies. Rights and liberties. Constitutional principles concerning the jurisdiction. Constitutional justice.

Type of delivery of the course

Frontal lessons. Exercises on current constitutional. In-depth seminars on relevant issues of public law.

Attendance

Class participation is strongly recommended but not mandatory.

Type of evaluation

The student’s knowledge at the end of the course will be assessed by means of an oral exam. This examination aims to verify the student ability to sum up and communicate information, to think critically and to use the appropriate juridical terms. The test consists of three or more questions aimed at assessing the learning outcome and the grades will be decided on the basis of the following criteria: less than 18/30: the student does not have a sufficient level of knowledge and it corresponds to a fail. 18-20/30: the student has acquired a bare minimum level of knowledge 21-23/30: the student has acquired a sufficient level of knowledge and the ability to understand notions and institutions of public law 24-26/30: the student has acquired a good level of knowledge and the ability to understand notions and institutions of public law 27-29/30 the student has acquired a very good level of knowledge and the ability to understand notions and institutions of public law as well as being able to think critically and communicate effectively 30-30 cum laude: the student has acquired an excellent level of knowledge and the capacity to understand notions and institutions of public law as well as having excellent communications skills and the ability to think critically.
