20410305 - LABORATORIO DI MICROSCOPIA ELETTRONICA

The course aims to provide the student with theoretical knowledge and technical skills to adress the ultrastructural morphological study of biological materials. The educational objectives contain:
1) learning of the basic principles of electronic microscopy;
2) knowledge and application of methodologies related to the preparation of biological samples of different nature (organisms procarioti and eucarioti) for ultrastructural analysis;
3) use of ultrastructural survey tools (scan, transmission and ionic beam microscopes);
4) observation, capture and elaboration of microscopic images;
5) qualitative interpretation and quantitative analysis of ultrastructural data.
The student will be able to autonomously prepare an experimental protocol appropriate to the type of sample and the investigation objective.
The knowledge acquired during the course will also allow the student to make a critical analysis of the morphological results in a functional context.
