Programme

After an introduction about the birth of the Aesthetics and the concept of aesthetical experience, the course will analyze the concept of kantian sublime and its twentieth century discussions.

Type of delivery of the course

In the first part of the course students will be given an introduction to vocabulary and aesthetics problems. In particular we will follow the historical path of the terms: Aesthetics, Imitation, Art, Beauty, Sublime. In the second part we will read and comment the texts by Kant, Deleuze and Lyotard.

Type of evaluation

Oral exam with at least a question on the history of aesthetics and a question on each author read.
