Giorgio de Marchis, Deputy Rector, appointee for the Coordination of the University’s Working Group on Orientation (GLOA) and for Orientation and Tutoring activities. Since 2016, Full Professor of Portuguese, Brazilian, and Lusophone Literatures, in the scientific-disciplinary sector FLMR/01-C.
Since November 2008, he has been teaching at Roma Tre University, where, from December 2017 to October 2024, he directed the Department of Foreign Languages, Literatures, and Cultures. During the same period, he was a member of the Academic Senate, coordinating its Teaching Committee from April 2023 to October 2024.
He currently directs the Camões, I.P. “José Saramago” Chair and the “Agostinho Neto” Chair for Angolan Studies.
He obtained the PhD in Iberian Studies from the University of Bologna. He is a member of the Cultural Council of the Eça de Queiroz Foundation (Link identifier #identifier__114955-1FEQ) and a founding member of the Italian Association of Portuguese and Brazilian Studies (Link identifier #identifier__177465-2AISPEB) where he previously served on the Presidency Office and the Board of Directors.
As a Visiting Professor, he has taught at Portuguese and Brazilian universities and foundations.
Author of over 150 publications, his research has primarily focused on contemporary Portuguese, Brazilian, and Angolan literature, as well as the cultural dynamics of the Lusophone world.
