Type of delivery of the course

In the case of an extension of the health emergency from COVID-19, all the provisions that regulate the methods of carrying out the teaching activities and student assessment will be implemented. In particular, the following methods will apply: Lessons will be held remotely. Students can access all information relating to the course, the exercises and the delivery of the documents through the Moodle platform in the section dedicated to TECNOLOGIA DELL'ARCHITETTURA channel A The course mainly includes lectures on the topics of technology and innovation in the building sector, also through conferences and seminars with building sector specialists. The course also includes that students, working in the classroom with the supervision of the teacher, try to apply the concepts learned during the lesson to the project they will develop for the exam.

Attendance

Attendance is required for at least 75% of the lessons

Type of evaluation

For the Covid emergency, the examination will take place remotely according to the indications of the Rectorate (D.R.n. 703/2020) The exam will be oral upon presentation by the candidates of the requested graphic works. These papers must be delivered 5 working days before the appeal to allow the teacher to examine them. During the oral exam, candidates will have to illustrate the project strategies and will have to answer the teacher's questions. The exam will take place in public form in the sense that all students enrolled in the course or anyone who specifically requests it from the teacher can always assist at a distance. The exam will take place using the Microsoft Teams or Zoom software. The exam cannot be recorded. The exam aims at assessing the level of learning of the course topics through the discussion of project documents the documents must contain: analysis of the status of the building being studied definition of the critical issues detected schemes related to the strategies hypothesized for the resolution of critical issues facades, plants and cross sections of the actual state facades, plants and cross sections of the modified state stratigraphy of the ante and post-work envelope construction details of the project proposal (1:20)

Training objectives of the course
THE COURSE AIMS TO PROMOTE A CULTURE OF INNOVATION, WITH PARTICULAR ATTENTION TO THE DESIGN AND CONSTRUCTION STRATEGIES FOR THE CONSTRUCTION OF ENERGY EFFICIENT BUILDINGS IN TEMPERATE CLIMATES.
AFTER EXPLORING THE BUILDING SYSTEM / EQUIPMENT IN COMPLIANCE WITH THE REQUIREMENTS OF INTERIOR COMFORT, THE OPPORTUNITY TO COMPETE WITH THE TRENDS OF SOCIAL EXPECTATIONS AND WITH THE PRODUCTION SYSTEM OF INDUSTRIAL AND URBAN REGENERATION TOWARDS THE SMART CITY IS GIVEN.

Prerequisites
CONOSCENZE DI FISICA TECNICA, BIOCLIMATICA, SCIENZA DEI MATERIALI, RIGENERAZIONE URBANA SONO ESSENZIALI ALLA COMPRENSIONE DEGLI OBIETTIVI DEL CORSO

Course programme

THE COURSE DEALS WITH THE CONTEMPORARY METHODS AND PRACTICES LINKED TO THE BUILDING PROCESS. IN THE ITALIAN FRAMEWORK A VERY URGENT PROBLEM IS THE ENERGY RETROFITTING OF THE EXISTING REAL ESTATE. THROUGH LECTURES, MEETING WITH EXPERTS OR FIRMS, EXERCISES, THE COURSE AIMS TO DEFINE THE METHODS FOR THE RETROFITTING TILL A DETAILED SCALE.

Didactic Methods
LECTURES, MOVIES PROJECTION, DISCUSSION, CONFERENCES, EXERCISES, WORK ON LINE ARE JUST ONES OF THE DIFFERENT METHODS THAT THIS COURSE INTEND TO EXPLOIT WITH THE AIM OF ENHANCE INDIVIDUAL ABILITIES AND CREATIVENESS FOR A TECHNOLOGICAL INNOVATION PROCESS.

Learning assessment procedures
THE COURSE CONSISTS OF EXERCISES CARRIED OUT DURING THE SEMESTER AND A FINAL EXAMINATION.

Type of delivery of the course

The Architecture Technology Course deals on the architectural innovation technology, studying methods, instruments, softwires and products at the design and construction stages. It is devoted to students through three modalities: - lessons and visit to the exercise area; - work in the classroom and their evaluation; - meetings with experts and consultants from industry, research and job fields, in order to come across rules and laws able to modify the way we design or the instruments hard and soft we use to design; new or under experimentation materials and industrial products. These three modalities, all together, will introduce students in a more complex and on the cutting edge way for the architectural design and its construction. If the COVID-19 pandemic will continue, we will follow the procedure determined by the law and in particular: lessons and ongoing evaluations will be run online, trough TEAMS platform.

Attendance

Students must attend at the least the 75% of lessons to be admitted to the final exam and they have to accomplish and be judged positively in the ongoing exercises.

Type of evaluation

The final examination consists on a debate around the innovation technology in the Architecture domain. It is evaluated the understanding on the basis knowledge, acquired during the Degree, and the ability to envisage innovative aims and frontiers for the architecture construction. The debate starts from the description of the final exercise. For the Academic Year 2020/2021 it consists on the energy retrofitting of a social housing of the Sixties, located in Roma Tufello Area. Nowadays, the energy retrofit is the way most necessary and diffuse to operate in the building sector. In our opinion, it permits to study and understand the way to build of a recent past and to compare them with the new ones and with the ongoing erxperimentation. If the COVID-19 pandemic will continue, we will follow the procedure determined by the law and in particular: evaluations will be run online, trough TEAMS platform. If the normal situation will be back, exams will take place in the classroom. Exams will evaluate a digital presentation and the printed design solutions on A1 format.
