Programme

The optional course aims to propose an experiment aimed at placing logic, rationality, analytical capacity and the possibilities offered by the most innovative evaluation methods, implemented with inclusive, dialogic and deliberative approaches, at the centre of collective decision-making. A number of alternative economic paradigms have assumed an ever-growing role in the transformation processes of cities, including: the circular, solidarity, collaborative, community, informal, proximity, gift, etc. economy. These processes involve different parts of the community, such as formal and informal, individual or collective subjects, third sector entities, social enterprises and individual citizens, who find innovative and collaborative forms for the creation of value, the triggering of virtuous transformations and the provision of services and activities with a strong social value. Common goods, relational goods, collective goods and community goods are some of the elements on which these new dynamics are based.
The course intends to experiment approaches and methods aimed at analysing these phenomena through evaluation metrics, in order to investigate their main aspects, enhance their application, measure their impact, or support the design and training process through tools to support decision-making processes.
The course will cover the following topics:
Recalls of the main valuation methods and tools: Criteria for estimating use value and non-use values; financial valuations, economic valuations, multi-criteria valuations, research and application of different types of indicators.
Hints of innovative or alternative economic paradigms: civil, gift, collaborative, community, informal, cognitive proximity economy.
Innovative approaches to evaluation: participatory evaluations, deliberative monetary evaluations; multi-criteria deliberative evaluations, Multicriteria Social Evaluation, SOCRATES method and others.
At the end of the cycle of frontal didactic lessons, the course will propose the study of a real application case applying the evaluation tools in a collective experimental process based on the Role Playing Game.
