Il corso si propone tre obiettivi 1) studiare la macro e la microeconomia del mercato del lavoro; 2) analizzare la recente evoluzione delle dinamiche e delle caratteristiche strutturali del mercato del lavoro; 3) approfondire e valutare le politiche del lavoro. Nella prospettiva micro saranno studiati i comportamenti dei singoli agenti (lavoratori e imprese) relativamente alla offerta e alla domanda di lavoro, con particolare riferimento alla ricerca di lavoro, alla produttività del lavoro, al costo del lavoro, alla dinamica delle assunzioni e dei licenziamenti nelle varie tipologie di rapporti lavorativi, alla contrattazione collettiva. Nella prospettiva macroeconomica saranno studiate le determinanti delle variabili aggregate relative al livello dell’occupazione e della disoccupazione nonché alla loro relazione con il tasso di inflazione.

The first part of the course focuses on the theoretical analysis of the labour market and on the implications of policy. The decision-making processes that determine the behaviour of individuals and firms in the labour market are analysed, in terms of labour supply and demand and, therefore, of equilibrium in a competitive market and in an imperfectly competitive market.
The topic of education choices and training of human capital is introduced.
The imperfections of the labour market are explored in depth, with particular attention to the problem of unemployment and wage differentials.
Finally, the topic of discrimination in the labour market is analysed.
The second part of the course explores some topics with empirical analyses, also through the use of software used in econometrics, and through the reading and analysis of scientific articles.
