The course aims to provide students with skills related to film grammar through an extended analysis from “classic cinema” to contemporary cinema, in order to investigate aesthetic and stylistic elements and their cultural and political outcomes.

Programme

The course analyses the mise en scene, the style, the authorial strategy of two masters of American cinema, Stanley Kubrick and Francis Ford Coppola, investigated from the point of view of the direction, the modes of production, the many theoretical readings of their cinema.
