Programme

The workshop will focus on the following topics: Image as document and image as memory; camera, cameraman, and performer's body; The body of the performer and the "corpus" of the editing.
This laboratory will cover the key phases of designing, producing, and disseminating an audiovisual product for live performance, both theoretically and practically.
A key objective of the laboratory is to stimulate reflection about the use of photographs and audiovisual images as documentation of performative works, but also as a means to express critical and creative thought.
We will address the different stages of the project from both a methodological and technical standpoint, as well as through a detailed exploration of key theoretical issues related to video and photography documentation languages in the context of performative art. This will be accomplished by analyzing concrete examples from experts and masters in the field.
Throughout the course, the students will be guided in designing and producing an audiovisual project. The project's specific content and format will be decided based on the participants' average level of knowledge and skills.

Type of delivery of the course

Students will be introduced to both the theory and practice of filmmaking of the performance through an experiential process where a specific audiovisual product will be designed and developed. The laboratory offers theoretical lessons, screenings of audiovisual materials, and exercises. Some classes will feature participation from dancers and theatre performers, who will serve as the subject matter for the audiovisual productions. The laboratory will be held in person, with a maximum of 30 participants, starting from April 4th, with the following schedule: Tuesday 17-20; Wednesday 18-20. Attendance is mandatory. It is expected that participants read the reference material provided by the Professor. Group and individual activities are planned according to the number of participants and their level of knowledge/skills.

Type of evaluation

The assessment will consider the individual quality of the project completed by the student, which will be discussed during the final presentation, as well as the attendance frequency. Consistent attendance is required to follow the process and execute the project according to the design and instructions provided during the course of the meetings.
