To provide tools to face the study of European and extra-European theatrical cultures in a historical-comparative perspective. To this end, some theatrical experiences will be examined as “models” for the research of the different cultural matrices and of their technical junction points.

Programme
After having traced a synthetic profile of the relationships between the theatrical cultures of the East and the West, and in particular, between the puppet’s theatre between Asia and Europe, some specific experiences will be examined, including those of some great theatre’s reformers of the twentieth century, some particular traditions of oriental puppet and figure’s theatre and those of the Sicilian puppet’s theatre.Core Documentation

Frontal lessons. As indicated in the list of the texts for the exam, for attending students there are differences in the topics and texts in the program. To be considered attending students must not do more than two absences.Attendance

Oral examination with the teacher. Attending and non-attending students will have to answer at least one question posed orally on each part of the program, with reference to the recommended texts and lectures. The assessment of the learning takes place through an oral test assessed by the minimum mark of 18/30, corresponding to the basic knowledge of all parts of the program and of the technical language, to the maximum mark of 30/30 with honors, which is equivalent to excellent mastery of the subjects, excellent or excellent property of language, excellent or excellent analytical ability.
