This course aims at analysing the two main avant-garde movements of the 20th century in France, Surrealism and Tel Quel. More specifically, we will explore, starting from the notion of the sacred by Georges Bataille, the mode of the writing, the instant and the link between writing and politics in the two groups.

The examination of the learning ability will take place by means of an oral exam aimed at testing the level of understanding of the notions and the concepts approached during the lectures. The exam features a division of the questions on specific parts of the program (general part, monography, essays, filmography). The Writing of the instant and politicsThis course aims at analysing the two main avant-garde movements of the 20th century in France, Surrealism and Tel Quel. More specifically, we will explore, starting from the notion of the sacred by Georges Bataille, the mode of the writing, the instant and the link between writing and politics in the two groups.

The examination of the learning ability will take place by means of an oral exam aimed at testing the level of understanding of the notions and the concepts approached during the lectures. The exam features a division of the questions on specific parts of the program (general part, monography, essays, filmography). The duration of the exam may vary from 15 to 30 minutes, although under certain circumstances it may be extended to 40 minutes.
