To provide tools to face the study of the main problems posed by theatrical historiography, by tackling the theatrical cultures from time to time examined in relation to their historical context, to the operating modes that they have produced and the traditions that they have created.

Programme

Specific object of investigation will be the dialect theatre “of exception” (especially the one of Raffaele Viviani), essential piece to look in a new way at that moment of the Italian theatre history identifies with the “years of the delay” with regard to the phenomenon of the emerging theatrical direction. It is foreseen the projection and analysis of films made out of the plays of Viviani ("La tavola dei poveri", directed by A. Blasetti, 1932, and "I dieci comandamenti", directed by M. Martone, 2000) and of unpublished documentary clips.

Type of delivery of the course

Frontal lessons. As indicated in the list of the texts for the exam, for attending students there are differences in the topics and texts in the program. To be considered attending students must not do more than two absences. IN THE EVENT OF AN EXTENSION OF THE HEALTH EMERGENCY FROM COVID-19, ALL THE PROVISIONS THAT REGULATE THE CONDITIONS OF PERFORMING THE EDUCATIONAL ACTIVITIES AND THE STUDENT ASSESSMENT WILL BE ADOPTED. IN PARTICULAR THE FOLLOWING METHODS WILL APPLY: THE LESSONS WILL BE HELD ONLINE WITH THE AID OF THE UNIVERSITY PLATFORMS (TEAMS, MOODLE AND STREAM). TO BE REGARDED AS ATTENDING STUDENTS, THE STUDENTS MUST REGISTER FOR THE COURSE THROUGH THE MOODLE PLATFORM AND ALSO THROUGH THE TEAMS PLATFORM. THE LESSONS WILL BE CONDUCTED USING THE MOODLE AND TEAMS PLATFORMS, WITH THE HELP OF STREAM FOR WATCHING VIDEOS. AS INDICATED IN THE LIST OF TEXTS FOR THE EXAM, THERE ARE DIFFERENCES IN THE TOPICS AND SCHEDULED TEXTS FOR ATTENDING STUDENTS. TO BE CONSIDERED ATTENDING THE STUDENT MUST FOLLOW THE COURSE AND CERTIFY HIS PRESENCE THROUGH THE TWO PLATFORMS.

Attendance is strongly recommended.

Type of evaluation

Oral examination with the teacher. Attending and non-attending students will have to answer at least one question posed orally on each part of the program, with reference to the recommended texts and lectures. The assessment of the learning takes place through an oral test assessed by the minimum mark of 18/30, corresponding to the basic knowledge of all parts of the program and of the technical language, to the maximum mark of 30/30 with honors, which is equivalent to excellent mastery of the subjects, excellent or excellent property of language, excellent or excellent analytical ability.
