The course of Moral Philosophy is part of the program in Philosophical sciences (MA level) and is included among the characterising training activities. At the end of this course, the student will have obtained:
- An in-depth knowledge of the main theoretical questions of ethics, moral philosophy, action theory;
- Knowledge of some reference texts in the philosophical-political field and of the main debates associated with them, as well as of secondary literature also in languages other than Italian;
- Ability to focus on theoretical issues and to develop arguments in the analysis of problems related to political theory and to critical theory.

Programme

States of Nature: Desire and Need from Plato to Modern Philosophy.
The course aims to consider the philosophical anthropology underlying conceptions of the state of nature in modernity. Its aim is to focus on desire and need as two different drivers of the transition from the state of nature to civil society.

Type of delivery of the course

The didactics includes lectures, seminars, debates and exercises in the classroom. In the case of an extension of the health emergency by COVID-19 all the provisions that regulate the way in which the didactic activities and the students' evaluation will be carried out will be implemented. In particular, the following procedure will be applied: distance learning through the University platforms.

Class attendance is optional, although recommended.

Type of evaluation

The assessment consists of an oral examination. In the case of an extension of the health emergency by COVID-19 all the provisions that regulate the way in which the didactic activities and the students' evaluation will be carried out will be implemented. In particular, the following procedures will apply: remote oral exams through the Microsoft Teams platform.
