The cours aims to present the main theoretical and methodological perspectives of the didactics of history of music, also with reference to the main themes of the history of dance. It also aims to provide students with a specific competence for the future teaching of the history of music in secondary schools.

This course focuses on the history of music, especially on the history of western art music, from a didactic point of view, considering the following topics:a. teaching the history of music: discussion of perspectives and methods against the background of current paradigms and historiographical horizons of research in the field of historical musicology;

Oral exam with questions on the topics discussed within the lectures and on the bibliographical references. The exam will be completed by the presentation in written form, by the student, of an educational path for teaching the history of music in Italian high school, focused on the case study that will be discussed during the course within the point b. of the program (see, in this same table, under the heading ‘Program’). Form, deadline, materials for the preparation of the written presentation will be indicated to the students at the beginning of the course. The materials will then be made available in Moodle.
