The course aims to give students full comprehension of the general system of sports law, which will be analyzed taking into account its specificities, both on the theoretical and practical level of its concrete application. The general training objectives consist in consolidating the student's basic culture allowing him to expand the work opportunities after graduation.

Programme

The first part of the course requires an introduction on the sports legal order and its legal sources.
The following topics will be mostly discussed during the lectures: the employment sports contract; the sports agent; communication and imaging exploitation commercial contracts (sponsorship, commercial advertising, merchandising, licensing); other sports contracts (ticketing, broadcasting rights selling, ambush marketing); torts (general aspects, civil liability referred to athletes, teachers, coaches, events’ organizers, sports facilities’ managers, institutions and other stakeholders a latere involved in sports activities); sports justice, arbitration and other ADR procedures.
Other topics of the course: the parties of the sports legal order (IOC, CONI, national and international sports federations, Confederations, associated sports, sports-supporting institutions, sports companies and associations, athletes, sports auxiliaries).

Those attending the course in the first semester 2021-2022 will be able to use slides specifically available (in the elearning/teams channel) and replace the second book.

Type of delivery of the course

The lectures will be accompanied by seminars on specific topics. A pre-appeal exam is scheduled for December, reserved for attending students.

Type of evaluation

The assessment of the learning takes place through an oral test assessed by the minimum mark of 18/30, corresponding to the basic knowledge of all parts of the program and of the technical language, to the maximum mark of 30/30 with honors, which is equivalent to excellent mastery of the topics, appropriate or excellent property of language, appropriate or excellent analytical ability and practical resolution of legal issues. In order to verify the level of achievement of the indicated educational objectives, attending and non-attending students will have to answer at least three questions asked orally on different topics that are the subject of the program, with reference to the recommended texts and lectures held. A pre-appeal exam is scheduled for December, reserved for attending students.
